Heating systems in new residences in Germany

Building heating is a major consumer of energy in all countries. The Energy Transition requires a conversion from fossil fuel to low-carbon heating systems. This is happening, and is most evident in new buildings. Although natural gas is still used in half of new buildings, the other half are using potentially cleaner systems, including electricity, heat pumps, district heating and wood pellets.
