France energy strategy

France has a relatively low carbon level due to its reliance on nuclear energy. However, a third of the fleet will be shut down by the 2030s, leaving the question of whether the fall in power will be met by zero-carbon sources or fossil fuels.

All petrol and diesel vehicles will by banned in France by 2040. After 2022, no more electricity will be generated by coal-powered power stations. €4bn will be invested in improving energy efficiency.
